As part of the Pittsburgh Diocese "On Mission for the Church Alive" initiative, four parishes in the south hills were grouped together: Nativity, St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Virgin, St. Germaine and St. Valentine. This grouping went into effect on October 15, 2018 and formally merged into the combined parish of "Our Lady of Hope" on January 4, 2021.
It is fortunate that our legacy parishes were selected for grouping as each one had robust faith formation, prayer and outreach programs that complemented each other. In addition, the parishes sponsored more than a dozen other social, service and fundraising organizations. Throughout their existence, these parishes nurtured 20+ vocations that include women and men religious, deacons and priests.
Each of the parishes enjoyed an individual history of more than 60 years, with Nativity's legacy being 110+ years.
